Big Brum and aliss, are offering 6 artists/practitioners an opportunity to gain experience of working with young children at risk of exclusion. The opportunity is open to drama practitioners who wish to learn more about both theatre-in-education methodology and working with children in PRU's and LSU's; and practitioners who are experienced in working with such children but also wish to learn about theatre-in-education methodology. It will involve working with children aged between 9-11years during their participation in Big Brum's new theatre-in-education programme, Separation Wall. The project will take place at schools and special support centres in Birmingham and Solihull. The artists/practitioners will be involved in a training session prior to the company starting the project in the schools/centres. During the project their role will be limited to tracking and supporting the children involved, with opportunities for reflection and sharing within the project team
The total time commitment for artists taking part will cover 8 days between March and May, consisting mainly half-days, with a degree of flexibility over dates, with expenses fully reimbursed.
Big Brum has an established track-record of work with children and young people at risk of exclusion. The project offers an invaluable opportunity to practitioners wishing to gain experience in this field.
