Big Brum Project Learning Resources

MTL Drama Hub with Birmingham City University

Our co-managment master’s degree project

Big Brum has several university partners that book our work as an exemplar of Theatre in Education including the University of Coventry, Warwick, Winchester, Wolverhampton and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Our most significant partnership is with the School of Education at Birmingham City University, where we co-manage a Master’s degree in Drama Education Teaching and Learning, also working with trainee PGCE drama teachers.

The Master’s in Teaching and Learning course (MTL) teaches students how to tell a compelling story through actions and words, learning how to inspire and encourage others to do the same while expressing themselves through theatre. Lecturers teach a wide range of techniques for drama, boosting confidence and capabilities of the next generation of teachers.

We pursue this MTL project with vigour: working with both new and experienced teachers of drama. It’s vital to support drama and those who teach it to harness its power for learning and progression, especially as we find ourselves in an era where educational arts in schools is in rapid decline.
